Course Goal / Objective

To introduce the norms of international art music and the structural features of the periods with distinguished examples. Discussion of different music samples. Contribution of intellectual accumulation in the student by comparing Turkish music art with western music.

Course Content

Exemplary examples of the relation between the structural features of the periods of international art music (Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary) and the other branches of art of international music. Analysis of the distribution of symphonic orchestral instruments and analysis of symphony music, examination of famous symphonic works and concertos, operas, oratorios and balenes in the world. An overview of works that stand out in contemporary Turkish music.
