Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to have students get experience transferring attitudes, knowledge and skills gained from RPD 309 Principles and Techniques of Individual Counseling and RPD 308 Principle and Techniques of Group Counseling to a counselor and client relationship. In addition, it is aimed to enable students to use various theories based on the emotional, behavioral and cognitive techniques and methods in the process of individual psychological counseling; to gain experience in managing at least a four-session individual counseling process.

Course Content

In this course, students are expected to find counselors who need psychological counseling, to consult with them and to improve their counseling skills by getting supervision in this process. Each counseling session is recorded, the sessions are followed in the lecture-read from the transcript forms, and feedback is given about the sessions. The main topics of the course are: General review of Individual Psychological Counseling Principles and Techniques course, basic counseling skills practices, reviewing sample counseling sessions, each counselor candidate getting supervision for each session in the 4-session process requested from them.
