Course Goal / Objective

To teach nucleic acid in different microorganism, mobile genetic materials and their isolation, gene cloning, recombinant DNA methods, PCR and their applications to teach

Course Content

Cover topics Introductions to Molecular Biology, Plasmids and Bacteriophages, Isolation of Plasmid and Bacteriophages nucleic acids, properties and impotance of transposane and transposable structural, DNA isolation of animal and plant cells, The mechanisms of natural genetic material of microorganisms and plant cells, transformation (CaCL2, RbCL2, Protoplast and Liposome) electroporation, electrofusion, biolistic transformation, gene cloning, ploymerase chain reaction, hybridization (southern, northern, ın situ and dot blot), cloning vectors, recombinant DNA production and transfer to recipient cell, molecular diagnostic methods (DNA fingerprint, RFLP, 16S ribosomal RNA genes, RAPD).
