Course Goal / Objective

This course aims to teach the basic features and using areas of fuels and lubricants.

Course Content

Overview of petroleum oil refining processes. Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Automotive diesel, gasoline and oxygenated fuel blends. Biofuels. Lubricating oils for automotive applications. Lubricating greases. Static petroleum measurement, volatility, elemental analysis, fuel combustion characteristics, oxidation, corrosion, and viscosity. Lubrication and wear. Statistical quality assurance testing procedures.
