Course Goal / Objective

To evaluate the contemporary directors, films and themes of North American Cinema, South American Cinema, European Cinema, Cinema(s) of the Post-Soviet Countries, Middle-Eastern Cinema, North African Cinema, Asian Cinema/South Asian Cinema in local, national and transnational context; historical and social progresses by samples.

Course Content

World cinema as a concept, local, national and transnational movies and movie theaters, periods and movements in film history, the film manifestos, film festivals and interactions, discussions and new trends in recent world cinema.

LO05 4. To relate forms and contents of the films and debate them in technical, aesthetical and ideological contexts;
LO06 5. To question the films in the concept of geo-politics of art and aesthetics;
LO07 6. To identify local, national, and transnational progresses in cinema;
LO08 7. To distinguish the key concepts in film studies and how they apply to world cinema.
