Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to teach students the ecological requirements of the morphological and physiological characteristics of soft seed (apple, pear, quince, new world, Trabzon) and hard crust (walnut, hazelnut, pistachio, chestnut, almond) fruit species which enter into mild climate fruit species Is to be able to carry out projects related to the breeding of these fruit species by recognizing breeding biology and production techniques, to discover new varieties by breeding and research, to establish more efficient facilities with new techniques, to be able to apply what methods are available to these types of fruit and to provide profitable production methods.

Course Content

Morphological and biological characteristics and cultivation technique of walnut, hazelnut, pistachio, almond and chestnut are investigated from apples, pears, quince and hard-shelled fruit from soft seed fruits.
