Course Goal / Objective
The primary objective of this course is to explore gender development from infancy through pre-school, to elementary school, adolescence and adulthood. The formation of sex-segregated social groups, interaction of same-sex, cross-sex and mixed-sex groups, play themes and styles and assymetries between males and females will also be explored.
Course Content
The mechanisms that gender shape children and human beings, in general. Aside from obvious anatomical differences, the meaning of being male and female. Expression of individual sexual identity at successive periods of human development. Influence of gender on human development from infancy through development.
