Course Goal / Objective

To teach major concepts in farm management; to introduce general state and major classification forms of agricultural companies in Turkey; to teach the distinctive features of agricultural entities; to provide information about the advantages and disadvantages of specialization and diversifications in farms; to equip students with the basic knowledge about farm records; inventories, balance and capital; and to teach theoretical and practical infromation regarding assessment methods, cost calculations, and results of annual farm activities.

Course Content

Concepts related to economics of farm business and farm management; classification of farms and current situation in Turkey; characteristics of farms and differences between farm and non-farm businesses; enterprise selection and enterprise combination; factors affecting operation of farms; farm records; preparing inventories; capital structure of farms; valuation methods; depreciation calculation methods; costs in agricultural production; annual results of farm operations; risk and uncertainty; farm planning
