Course Goal / Objective

To show the role of plant nutrients in plant production, product quality, environmental pollution. To know soil and environmental factors affecting nutrition of plant.

Course Content

Sources of plant nutrients, the forms of plant nutrients found in the soil, the transport of plant nutrients to the root zone and their mechanisms of plant ingestion. Identification of mobility, distribution and deficiency indications of plant nutrients in plants. The effect of plant nutrients on the physiological and morphological characteristics of the plant. Explanation of the roles of plant nutrients in plant yield, quality and resistance to diseases. Measures to be taken against mineral nutritional disorders and adaptation mechanisms that plants have developed against these mineral nutritional disorders.
