Course Goal / Objective

The purpose of this course is to give the criteria used for the definition of the genus Vitis, the factors affecting the use of rootstocks, the rootstocks properties, pure American species and varieties, hybrid American grape rootstocks, important table, wine, and raisin grapes.

Course Content

Description and history of Ampelography, IBPGR descriptors for vines. Vegetative and generative characteristics examined in Ampelography. Rootstocks and cultivars which are used in the viticulture.
