Course Goal / Objective

To teach students the fundemental principles of irrigation systems; evaluation of basic design principles of irrigation systems; means of improving water use efficiency and design irrigation systems that saves irrigation water; establishment basis for design of such systems.

Course Content

Importance of irrigation and history, soil-crop-water-atmosphere relations, evapotranspiration, irrigation water requirement, irrigation eficiencies, irrigation system capacity, irrigation systems, pressurized irrigation systems, drip, sprinkle, self-propelled sprinkler systems, surface irrigation systems, basin, border, furrow, alternative furrow, surge furrow, irrigation scheduling; pumps; fertigation, automation of irrigation systems.
