Course Goal / Objective
The history of nematology, principal characteristics of nematodes, morphology and outline of classification of nematode. Morphology, biology and ecology of nematodes. nematological techniques, general principles and methods of controlling plant nematodes.
Course Content
Introduction to nematology, History and feding. Anatomy, morphology and structure of nematodes. Morphological characters for identification, taxonomy and classification. Classification of nematodes. Biology and life cycles of plant parasitic nematodes. Life cycles of importand nematode groups; root-knot nematodes, cyst forming nematodes, reniform nematodes, ecto-, endo-, and semi-endparasitic nematodes. Feding and damage of plant parasitic nematodes on plants; host-parasite relationship. Ecology of plant parasitic nematodes. Interaction of plant parasitic nematodes with microorganisms. Nematode-virus interaction, virüs transmitted nematodes (Trichoderidae; Trichodorus spp, Paratrichodorus spp.) Sampling, Nematological technics, extraction of nematodes from soil and plant materials. Handling nematodes in laboratory; preparation etc. General principles and methods of controlling plant nematodes.
