Course Goal / Objective
The aim of this course is to teach the methods of biodiversity determination, definition, importance and protection.
Course Content
Definitions of biodiversity, importance and benefits of diversity; types of diversity, relevant dimensions of biodiversity, measuring biodiversity , Sorensen indice, Jaccard indice, Simpson indice , Shannon- Weinner indice, the rank-abundance curve. Human impacts on biodiversity, red data boks and red lists, sustainable use of components of biodiversity; biogeographic importance of Turkey and its biodiversity; international conventions and laws related to biodiversity in Turkey.
