Course Goal / Objective

The scope of this course is to teach the students how the organic reactions take place and to comprehend organic synthesis strategies

Course Content

Functional groups in organic structures and their properties, Stereochemistry, Types of organic reaction: Nucleophilic substitution reactions, Elimination reactions, Condensation reactions and their mechanisms, Mechanism of esterification and ester hydrolysis, Electrophilic substitution reactions, Strategies for organic synthesis, Pericyclic reactions, Asymmetric syntheses, Stereoselectivity in organic reactions, Biomolecules; amino acids, nucleic acids, carbohydrates and lipids.
