Course Goal / Objective

Creating in the students a perspective on the past from today's traditional tools, architecture, and varieties of life.

Course Content

To introduce students to the emergence of ethnoarchaeology and their fields of study, and to provide students with different approaches to the study of archaeological material with case studies selected from the continents.

LO02 Understands the diversity of stone tools (very probably the first craft) and what people did with them.
LO03 Understands and interprets archaeological data regarding the appearance, development and and reasons for regional differences of crafts such as basketry, weaving, potting, metal-working.
LO04 Understands stages of development of ways of getting food (hunting, farming, herding).
LO05 Understands archaeological interpretations of artistic conditions in past periods through ethnoarchaeological research.
LO06 Understands archaeological interpretations of religious beliefs in past periods through ethnoarchaeological research
LO07 Understands archaeological interpretations of social rituals through ethnoarchaeological research.
LO08 Understands the historical process of ethnographic weaving and basketry.
LO09 Assesses social values of past communities with ethnoarchaeological mediation from ethnographic celebrations and initiation ceremonies
