Course Goal / Objective

Basically, it is aimed to learn students how to analyze a film through its cinematographic, narrative, structuralist, auteur, historical, semiotic, psychoanalytic, sociological, philosophical, ideological, feminist, genre and dramaturgical approaches.

Course Content

In this course, the concept and techniques of film analysis are introduced. Critical analysis of films is done through different methods. Critical analysis of films are examined with different methods.

LO04 Analyzes the unity of theme, content and form of a film as a creative text, in cultural, esthetical, ideological, socioeconomic, sociopolitical, historical and intellectual contexts.
LO05 Discusses, analyzes and expresses the fictional and dramatic elements of film and recognizes how visual composition and sound heightens the audiences response, depicts and proves a directors style.
