Course Goal / Objective
The attendant students are aimed to be aware of some concepts and approaches about social gender , problems and results of patriarchal cultural structure in social life, and to gain ability to propose resolutions about the subject. Furthermore, within the main goals of the course, do the participants critically evaluate the social gendered representations within the various media contexts such as news, advertisements, Tv programmes, social media texts and photos.
Course Content
General context of the course includes sex and gender concepts, social division of labor and social gender roles, stereotypes on social gender, theories of social gender and feminist theories. In addition to this, during the course, representation of the feminity and masculinity within the various media outputs (news texts, advertisements, photographs, video, TV serials, TV programmes and internet texts ) are scrutinised while the course requires to analyse gender issue in the context of media.
