Course Goal / Objective
In this course, students usually transnational migration and population movements, in particular communications and media of migrants to and from Turkey to Turkey is intended to be knowledgeable about how to interact with practice. In addition, in the context of diaspora and cinema, it is aimed that students can make critical analysis of the production, perception and content of the films by learning conceptual tools and watching examples.
Course Content
In this course, the changing relationships between communication technologies and transnational identities will be explored within the framework of especially neoliberalism, globalization and intensified migration dynamics and cultural flows. Inquiries will be made around the concepts of nation-state, national borders, indirect individual and social interactions, public and public spaces, globalization, cosmopolitanism, transnationalism and diaspora. In addition, the course was designed to examine the visual culture in diaspora cinema with theoretical approaches regarding diaspora and migration studies.
