Course Goal / Objective
In parallel to the universal design, providing accessible and legible physical environment within the city for everyone is a necessity for making cities more livable for all. Making arrangements that enable everyone to use the urban space equally and unobstructed way with Landscape Architecture / Urban Landscape applications, which engage with the design of the physical environment, are important in terms of raising the quality of urban life. Within the scope of this course, firstly the concept of universal design, the principles of universal design have been put forward and then regulations on urban landscape, which were issued in line with universal design concept, have been examined.
Course Content
The concept of universal design is a design concept that emerged as a result of the design of space, product, environment and equipment that all people can equally access and use including people with disabilities. This design approach can encompass scales ranging from product design to architecture, landscaping, and urban design that engage with the design of physical environment design and from simple systems that provide environmental control to complex information technologies.
