Course Goal / Objective

To be able to define chemical and physicochemical methods, to use chemical processes to solve the problem in the field of Environmental Engineering and to distinguish them from other process methods.

Course Content

Introduction to chemical processes; Chemical precipitation and crystallization; Removal of heavy metals; phosphorus precipitation, hardness removal, fluorine removal; Balancing the water; Chemical oxidation; Oxidizers; Iron and manganese oxidation, oxidation of organic compounds and trace organics (oxidation of phenol, THM and residual COD), decolorization, taste and odor control, sulfur oxidation, cyanide oxidation, chromium reduction; Basic concepts in corrosion and corrosion protection methods. disinfection.
