Course Goal / Objective
Learns the abiotic and biotic factors (fungi, bacteria, phytoplasma, spiroplasma, virus and viroid) that cause disease in cultivated plants, introduces the symptoms they cause in the plant, defines parasitic weeds, gains general information about the methods of struggle against them. Explains the definition of pest, insects, distinguishing them from other arthropods, general morphology and metamorphosis of insects. It gives examples about important insect orders and some important families that cause economic damage.
Course Content
Some basic knowledge and concepts about entomology are explained. Morphology, reproduction, development and metamorphosis of insects are defined. General information about the control methods used in the fight against insects is given. Sampling is made about the manifestation of disease agents in plants, their life cycles and control strategies.
