Course Goal

To inform history of viticulture and the geographical distribution of the vine and importance of viticulture in horticulture of Turkey, to teach the morphology of the vine, and some basic subjects related to viticulture.

Course Content

History of viticulture in Turkey and in the world, The geographical distribution of the vine, Turkey viticulture area and grape production by region, Nutritional value of grapes and its importance in terms of human health, Taxonomy of the grapevine, Vitis species and their distribution areas, American, Asian and European species, Commercial classification of grapes, The root and shoot system of the vines, Climate and soil factors affecting the grape growing.
