Course Goal

To provide students with a theoretical background and analytical thinking skills, where they can examine the economic and socio-cultural characteristics of rural areas, the causes of underdevelopment and the attempts to eliminate them, and produce alternative solutions.

The problem of underdevelopment; Economic growth and development concepts; Traditional growth and development theories; Measurement of development and main characteristics of underdeveloped countries; Rural area and its features; Definition, importance, purpose, principles and elements of rural development; Role of agriculture in rural development, Rural development policies; Globalization and rural development
