Course Goal

learns economic importance of range and pasture and forage crops legumes and grasses. Origin, Distribution, Adaptation, Identification, Uses, establishment, Fertility and pH requirements, cutting and grazing management, compositional and nutritional characteristics of some important forage crops in Turkey and the region.

Course Content

the scope of course can be outlined in three phases: 1. role and importance of forage grasses for animal production and environment. Grass establishment and maintenance 2. role and importance of forage legumes for animal production and environment and soil fertility. Cultivation of Legumes 3. role and importance of grasslands, range management
