Course Goal / Objective
To teach application of biotechnology in horticulture theoretically and practically
Course Content
Introduction to biotechnology and the use of biotechnology in horticultural crops, meristem and shoot tip culture, embryo rescue technique, node culture with micro cuttings, anther culture, gynogenesis and somatic embryogenesis and organagenesis techniques in horticultural crops, units in nucleic acid applications, solutions and buffers, DNA isolation from plant tissues, quantification and qualification of isolated DNA, Polymerase chain reaction, marker assisted selection, molecular marker techniques and evaluation of the data
