Course Goal

It is aimed that interns learn the etiopathogenesis and clinical findings of internal and surgical diseases related to the genitourinary system encountered in adult and pediatric patient groups, gain competence in diagnosing these diseases, and comprehend the basic principles of urological patients and their treatment and referral.

Course Content

This internship includes taking anamnesis in genitourinary system problems, applying special tests in physical examination and examination, theoretical tests, file preparation, bedside training, clinical meetings and practical applications in the operating room. Interns follow the patients in the urology outpatient clinic and service under the supervision of faculty members.

LO01 - Lists the most common urological diseases of adults and children and distinguishes the most important ones in terms of preventive medicine in our country.
LO02 Defines urological emergencies and traumas, can perform emergency treatment and refer them to specialists when necessary.
LO03 Makes the preliminary diagnosis of urological cancers, performs the necessary preliminary procedures and directs them to the specialist and specifies the preventive measures.
LO04 He/she diagnoses the stone diseases seen in children and adults, makes medical treatment and specifies the preventive measures.
LO05 It pre-diagnoses prostate diseases that occur with aging and are common in the society and directs these patients to a specialist physician.
LO06 Diagnoses and treats urinary system infections and specifies preventive measures.
LO07 Makes a preliminary diagnosis of congenital anomalies of the urogenital system seen in children and directs these patients to a higher level health institution.
LO08 Gains general information on adult sexual and reproductive health and makes a preliminary diagnosis of these diseases. Makes the necessary preliminary actions and directs them to the specialist.
LO09 Makes the preliminary diagnosis of urinary incontinence, performs the necessary preliminary procedures and directs them to specialists.
LO10 Gains sufficient knowledge to enlighten the public about organ donation and kidney transplantation.
LO11 Takes a purposeful history from the patient and their relatives, including detailed features specific to urological diseases.
LO12 Performs a detailed and purposeful physical examination in terms of common urological diseases in patients.
LO13 -Makes the first intervention and plans the next process in cases that require an emergency approach in the primary care physician.
