Course Goal

The aim of this course is to introduce pre-school teacher candidates the concepts and scientific process skills that can be included in early childhood science education; to provide information about the implementation process of science education activities and to develop their experiences; to enrich the pedagogical content knowledge that preschool teachers are expected to have in science education; to enable them to meet with media and digital technologies that can be used in early childhood science education.

Course Content

Definition of science education in early childhood, the importance of science education in early childhood, things to be considered in the process of science education, concepts that can be included in early childhood science education, scientific process skills in early childhood science education, methods that can be used to introduce early science concepts to young children, preschool teachers' pedagogical content knowledge for science education, media and technology in early childhood science education.
