Course Goal

The class reviews models of natural and human factors that in combination created prehistoric sites, and discusses how these models help archaeological interpretation of human activities in prehistory.

Course Content

Prehistoric archaeological sites can form in by varying combinations of human activity and geomorphological forces. As a result, interpretation of a prehistoric site requires first an understanding of how the site formed. The course examines with examples the many factors that create prehistoric sites, and how these factors related to interpretation of human activities in prehistory.
