Course Goal / Objective

This course aims to relate recent discussions in the philosophy of social science to methodological and ethical issues, to introduce techniques and tools used in research design.

Course Content

This course includes ontological and epistomological bases of scientific research, the process and design of research in social sciences, quantitative and qualititative paradigms, techniques and tools used in research and ethical issues.

LO02 The student will learn why the studies carried out in communication studies are carried out and why they are important.
LO03 The student will learn what previous research has brought, the methods of research, and how the obtained data can be evaluated.
LO04 At the end of the course, the student will have learned how to report research and the differences between qualitative and quantitative research.
LO05 The student will have information about research methods in new media and will analyze different methods with examples.
LO06 Will have information about ethical principles that should be taken into account in the scientific research process.
LO07 The student will analyze different methods with examples.
