Course Goal
By discussing the theoretical foundations and concepts of research in social sciences, it is aimed to learn the differences between quantitative and qualitative research paradigms and to design research.
Course Content
In the Scientific Research Methods and Ethics course, the theoretical foundations and concepts of research in social sciences will be discussed and the differences between quantitative and qualitative research paradigms will be questioned. In addition to the design, assumptions and questions of the research, data collection techniques and analysis used in research in the field of social sciences in general and in the field of communication in particular are among the topics to be examined. In addition, the course aims to provide graduate students with information about the thesis project writing phase, to point out the possible problems they will encounter during the thesis writing phase and to develop solutions. The course also covers research and reporting ethics.
