Course Goal

It aims to explain the fashion phenomenon and the importance of clothing as a communication/interaction factor. It aims to raise awareness of the message to be conveyed in Fashion Designs. It aims to raise awareness of how interdisciplinary interactions are theoretically reflected in creative design processes.

Course Content

In this course, the phenomenon of fashion, clothing and communication are defined and explained. The effects of the clothing factor on human/society communication/interaction are examined. It focuses on and tries to explain what kind of meanings clothing has, how the way of expression of fashion phenomenon has changed in the historical process and how fashion and clothing convey these meanings. Etymologies and definitions of fashion and clothing, the functions of fashion, communication and culture and fashion clothing relations, the role of fashion and clothing in the reproduction of society, fashion clothing and Postmodernity, fashion, the psychological effects of clothing choices and their reflections on communication are among the topics to be explained in the course.
