Course Goal
The aim of this course is to give the students the ability to read the texts of Turkish with the alphabets, texts and language features of Old Turkish which is the first period of Turkish language.
Course Content
In this course, Old Turkish, Orkhon Turkish (Köktürkçe) and Uighur definitions, scope and general characteristics of the period, II. East Turkey (Köktürk) Khanate (the term period, geography, state of political and administrative structure, communities and the Khanate of forming belief systems), examines the Orkhon inscriptions and artifacts, old Turkish overview, references Orkhon in the old Turkish and Turkish. Orchon texts, alphabet used in writing, opinions about the origin of the alphabet. Göktürk letter writing properties, Kültengin, Çoyr, Ongi, Tunyukuk Orhun Turkish is described.
