Course Goal

The goal of this course is to introduce the fundamentals related to mobile and satellite communications.

Course Content

Cellular concepts and cellular network capacity. Mobile radio propagation models. Effect of fading and remedies. Overview of GSM, spread spectrum communications and IS-95. Overview of 3G, 4G, and beyond. Wireless media access control. Satellite communications: Introduction and advanced conceps.
