Course Goal

The goal of this course is to introduce networking concepts related to the management of local area networks. The course includes topics related to repair, setup, management, and maintenance of local area networks.

Course Content

Service level agreements (SLAs). IT infrastructure library (ITIL) and configuration management databases, Management tools and architectures, Simple Management Network Protocol (SNMP), Management Information Base (MIB), Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) and Remote Procedure Call (RPC), Web services-based network management: SOAP/REST, XML and Structure Definitions, Available bandwidth estimation: Probe Rate Model and Probe Gap Model, Capacity Estimation: Packet Pairs/Trains and Pathchar, Throughput and goodput measurements: benchmarking techniques, RTT/OWD and Jitter measurements techniques
