Course Goal

1.The aim of this course is to give information about flexible control of distribution systems 2.Distribution automation and SCADA, 3.Smart distribution systems 4.The optimization techniques, the objective functions and the constraints, 5.GIS systems, remote access and information systems are also the scope of this course

Course Content

Introduction to distribution automation (DA) and flexible control; Relationship of DA to supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and automated mapping and facilities management (AM/FM); Integration of DA, SCADA and AM/FM; Communications infrastructure; DA functions; Distribution system load models; Outage management; Restoration following extended outages; Loss management; Voltage/Var management.
