Course Goal

Teaching the special test methods used in the evaluation of various functional properties as well as the tests commonly applied to textile products.

Course Content

Tests and analyzes for the characterization of textile surfaces. Selected test methods for functional textiles: Water repellency and water absorbency tests, surface tension of liquids, surface contact angle, selected standards and test methods for the determination of antimicrobial and antifungal properties, determination of flammability properties of textile surfaces. Determination of tensile, compression, bending, shear strength and surface properties of fabrics using the Kawabata (KES-FB) and FAST system. Special test methods applied to carpets.
