Course Goal

To equip the students with advanced manufacturing techniques and the properties of the pile fabrics which has an important place in the Turkish textile industry

Course Content

Manufacturing and foreign trade of pile fabrics in Turkey, the importance of pile fabrics in home textiles industry. Sector analysis. Investigation of the fiber and yarn properties used widely in the production of pile fabric. Terry fabric production techniques (weaving and knitting), their quality control and their production accounts. Carpet production techniques, Wilton and Axminster carpets. Quality control tests of the carpets. Velvet fabric manufacturing techniques. Blanket manufacturing techniques. Technological advances in production methods and machines of pile fabric.
