Course Goal / Objective

To teach the nitrogen binding mechanisms and the importance of nitrogen binding symbiotic bacteria in fertilization.

Course Content

N2-fixation mechanism, nodule formation, role of hemoglobin The ecological importance of N2-fixation, factors affecting N2-fixation, Mycorrhizal symbiosis and ecological importance, Endo (vesicular-arbuscular) and ectomycorrhiza, the effect of mycorrhizal fungus on nutrient uptake.
