Course Goal / Objective

To provide anatomical and physiological basic information about the central nervous system; pharmacological effects of drugs used in the treatment of neurological and psychiatric diseases, their mechanisms of action and their use in treatment.

Course Content

Neurotransmitter, neurohormone and neuromodulatory systems and signal transduction mechanisms in the central nervous system, drugs used in mood disorders, antipsychotics, hypnosedatives, alcohol, substance abuse, narcotic analgesics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, antiepileptics, drugs used in the treatment of Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and movement disorders, general and local anesthetics, skeletal muscle relaxants
