Course Goal / Objective

To teach the pre-operative, postoperative and post-operative nursing care and practices of the patient whose treatment is planned surgically. In addition, the physical structure of the operating room, traffic and movement in the operating room, the materials used in the operating room, sterilization, disinfection and asepsis principles are adopted. To teach the duties and responsibilities of the operating room team and the roles and duties of the operating room nurse within the team.

Course Content

Definition and classification of surgery. Fluid-electrolyte, acid-base balance and imbalances in surgical diseases. Types of shock and approach to the patient in shock. Wound healing. Perioperative nursing. Hospital infections. Nursing care in the burn patient. Breast diseases. Nervous system surgery and nursing care. Gastrointestinal system surgery and nursing care. Thoracic-cardiovascular surgery and nursing care. Urogenital system surgery and nursing care. Musculoskeletal surgery. Ophthalmology and nursing care. Ear-nose-throat diseases and nursing care. Surgical diseases of the endocrine system and nursing care.
