Course Goal

The practicesfrequently used by nursesin pediatric intensive care unitsare ofgreat importance astheyaffect the duration of intensive care and the quality ofcare. In this way, it willcontribute to nursing interventions(oralcare, urethralcatheter care, central-peripheralcatheter care and ventilator follow-up)and holistic patient follow-up, which are frequentlyimplemented in pediatric intensive care units.

Course Content

The importance of pediatric intensive care medicine is being more generallyaccepted in our countryasservices become more widelyavailable. Indeed, important developments occurred in thisfield in recent years. Pediatric intensive care is defined asall of the methodsapplied to partially or completelylost organ or system functions until the causes of negative effectsare eliminated, to treat these causesthat cause the disease, and to ensure the survival of the patient. Evidence isgrowing that treating criticallyillchildren in centers with large, well-equipped pediatric intensive care units has positive effects onmortality. Therefore, pediatric intensive care isthought to playan important role in keeping childmortalitylow. Nurses providing effective service in thisfield; In the world and Turkey pediatric intensive care and pediatric intensive care concept, pediatric intensive care unit design and unit characteristics, children forward in law support, children airwayand tracheal intubation, invasive / noninvasive monitoring of patient follow-up, children applied nursing interventionsin intensive care unit (enteraland parenteral nutrition, bloodmonitoring, drug applications... etc.) will provide holistic patient care thanksto the training it will receive
