Course Goal / Objective

Observe and practice Oral Surgery Applications in Clinical Settings.

Course Content

This course includes taking detailed anamnesis from the patient, determining the local and systemic risk factors, taking the necessary precautions, preparing the necessary materials for tooth extraction, applying the correct local anesthesia methods, performing tooth extraction, assisting the surgical operations under local general anesthesia.

Course Precondition

Preparation of the materials and the patient unit in the clinic and wearing of the personal protective equipments.

Course Learning Outcomes

LO01 Taking detailed medical history, defining teeth for extraction, systemic diseases and used drugs.
LO02 Defining local or systemic risk factors and referring if required.
LO03 Inform the patient about the procedures, discuss the probable complications and take the informed consent.
LO04 Preparation of the required instruments for local anesthesia and extraction, use these instruments properly.
LO05 Inject the required local anesthesia and perform the tooth extraction.
LO06 Clean and disinfect the used instruments and dental unit.
LO07 Explain the postoperative recommendations verbally and in a written form.
LO08 Assist the surgeries under local anesthesia which are performed by research assistants and consultants of department of oral and maxillofacial surgery.
