Course Goal / Objective
Aim of this course is to teach students the principals of plate tectonics and relations between plate tectonics and magmatism.
Course Content
Relationship between magmatism and global tectonic processes. Geochemical characteristics of igneous rocks as petrogenetic determinants. Partial melting processes in the upper mantle. Processes affecting the composition of primary magmas. Magmatism and its properties at diverging plate margins. Magmatism and its properties at convergent plate margins. Intraplate magmatism and its properties.
