Course Goal / Objective
to reveal and explain socio-economic, demographic and cultural differences between people living in rural and urban areas stating the reasons using basic concepts and principles of sociology discipline; to emphasize differences among people living in rural and urban areas and social changes occurred; to introduce rural social structure to people to be employed in rural area through theorical and practical applications.
Course Content
Definition and basic concepts of sociology; development of sociology in various countries; concept of rural area; administration of villages; rural urban differentiation in terms of sociology; properties of rural and urban population; structure of rural society; village mentality; disadvantageous groups in rural sector; social researches in rural sector; rural development; modernization, migration and social change
