Course Goal

The development of methodological issues in economics will be told. Besides, basic scientific concepts, schools and approaches related to economics will be told. During the course the historical development and the reasons for the emergence of paradigms will be explained, also. Besides, the importance of scientific methodology will be emphasized heavily.

Course Content

The birth of natural and social sciences, basic concepts, main definitions and theories of science, the methodological issues in social sciences, especially in economics, will be explained. Influential scientists like Kopernik, Bacon, Descartes and Newton's views will be told. Regarding Scottish Enlightment Adam Smith's self regulating social system vision will be explained. Methodological differences and contributions of famous sociologists will be told, also.
