Course Goal

This lesson aims to provide knowledge about heredity, genetic material, the structure and production of cells, chromosom disorders, prenatal diagnosis and genetic counseling.

Course Content

Cell concept, cell cycle, cell division, basic genetic concepts, DNA and RNA structure, Mendel's laws, inheritance patterns, inheritance models that do not comply with Mendel's laws, multifactorial inheritance, multi-allelic inheritance and blood groups, mitochondrial and sex-linked inheritance, epigenetic inheritance, cancer genetics, immune system and genetics, stem cells, prenatal diagnosis, chromosomal abnormalities and disorders, genetic counseling.

LO08 Explains epigenetic inheritance and its mechanisms.
LO09 Understands the causes of cancer. Defines cancer types and developmental stages.

LO11 It answers the questions of what prenatal diagnosis is, how it is done, and which genetic diseases it is used in the diagnosis of.
