Course Goal

The aim of the course is to give basic information about the formation of soils, their functions and their importance in agricultural production, as well as the relationships between plant nutrition and crop production.

Course Content

The course covers following topics: Importance of Soil Science, Pedosphere, Parent Material of Soil, Chemical and Physical Processes Playing a Role in Soil Formation, Components of Soil (Texture, Clay Minerals, Soil Organic Material, Soil Creatures), Physical and Chemical Properties of Soil, Factors Affecting Soil Formation and Soil Maturation, Soil Use, Importance of Plant Nutrition, Behavior of Plant Nutrients in Soil-Plant-Atmosphere System, Role of Plant Nutrients in Plants, Methods Used in Identifying the Nutritional Status of Plants and Fertility Levels of Soils, Organic Fertilizers and Application Methods, Mineral and Organomineral Fertilizers and Application Methods
