Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to understand that language is basically used to convey meaning, and that all linguistic and grammatical studies are fundamentally semantic studies, and in this sense, it is difficult to formulate the methodology of the boundaries of meaning.

Course Content

In this course, the importance of semantics in grammar and linguistics, the definition of meaning and questioning the concept of meaning, the relation between meaning and concept, the relationship between semantics and analytic philosophy, J. Trier and Concept Field Theory, D. Aksan, Concept Field and Word Family Opinion, E. Rosh and Prototype Theory, M. Jhonson and G. Lakoff's metaphor theory, word semantics and sentence semantics are explained.
