Course Goal

To give general information about the mathematical methods of diffusion and to teach the calculation of diffusion coefficients in cartesian, cylindrical and spherical systems

Course Content

Diffusion equations, solution methods when the diffusion coefficient is fixed, diffusion in a plane layer, diffusion in a cylinder, diffusion in a sphere, concentration-dependent diffusion, numerical methods, some calculations for variable diffusion coefficients, measurement and identification of diffusion coefficients, non-Fickian diffusion, heterogeneous diffusion in environments.
