Course Goal

All students who take the course should acquire basic information about the molecular metabolism of cancer, learn the biotechnological uses of this information and follow the researches on this subject.

Course Content

Definitions related to cancer metabolism, complex structure of cancer cell, energy types, mitochondrial mutations, autophagy, microenvironment and the effect of pH on metabolism, hypoxic adaptation mechanisms, enzymes involved in metabolism and various energy pathways, current use and targeting of metabolism in cancer diagnosis treatment. What can be done, article review and presentation.

Course Precondition

To be a graduate of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics or to be successful by taking a Molecular Biology course at the M.L. and DR course stage (before taking this course).

Course Learning Outcomes

Order Course Learning Outcomes
LO01 In this course, students understand the metabolism of the cancer cell, the signals that affect the metabolism, and the existence of systems that can adapt itself in the presence of different conditions such as hypoxia.
LO02 Gains knowledge of the systems that affect cancer cell metabolism and the principle of escape methods when the cell needs energy, by using interactive and research-based learning methods.
LO03 Gain knowledge of the literature on the use of cancer metabolism in targeted therapies
LO04 Learns the evaluation of scientific research on the subject and the presentation of the articles.
